Our Agreement

In our first session I will ask you to read and sign my standard contract for counselling as I am required to do by my professional body the BACP:

My contract for Counselling

(1) I am a person centred counsellor and am a registered and accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and adhere to the BACP code of ethics. If you would like to familiarise yourself with the code please look at the website www.bacp.co.uk.

(2) My counselling relationships are strictly confidential with a couple of exceptions:-I will break confidentiality if I judge that: – there is a serious risk to life or – a serious crime was reported or intended. In both situations I would wish to discuss the matter with you first before taking it any further.

(3) To maintain and develop the quality of my practice I have regular supervision for my counselling work. Therefore the content of therapy sessions may be disclosed. At all times I take care to preserve the anonymity of my clients.

(4) An individual Counselling session is 50 minutes and my fees are £60. My Couples rate is £80 for  a 60-minute session.

(6) If you cancel a booked appointment with less than a week’s notice, I will endeavour to find you another time during in that week. If I am unable to do so, there will be a charge for the session. There will be a full fee to pay for missed appointments.

(7) If you decide to finish your counselling sessions with me I would recommend having a final session so that we can review of our work together and discuss other forms of support that may be appropriate for you to continue/ consolidate your personal development.

(8) We are entering into a professional counselling relationship and there can be no contact between us other than client/counsellor. I do not accept or send invitations to social media sites.

The data I keep and how I use it

(1) I will keep your contact telephone number and email address and any other personal details you provide until we finish working together at which time I will delete them.

(2) I keep brief notes of the content of the sessions for seven years after our work has finished as recommended by my Professional body and insurer.

(3) Your name is not on your notes. The notes are handwritten and kept in a locked box.

(4) I do not use your data for any other purposes and keep it entirely confidential.
