Every relationship faces challenges — but each challenge also offers an opportunity to strengthen connection and deepen understanding. Counselling provides a space to become more aware of your patterns, appreciate your differences, and build stronger, more fulfilling connections and you don’t need to be in crisis to benefit.
In our work together, I’ll help you explore the unique patterns and dynamics you’ve co-created — without blame or judgment. Together, we’ll uncover why these patterns exist and how you can develop new, more supportive ways of relating that enhance mutual respect, intimacy, and fulfilment.
My approach is to offer a safe, non-judgemental space where you can both discover what may be missing in your relationship. When we don’t feel loved or secure, we can find ourselves caught in destructive cycles of behaviour. I won’t “fix” your relationship — instead, with over 15 years of couples counselling experience, I’ll support you in taking an active role in improving how you express yourself and communicate. My goal is to help you speak and listen to each other in ways that promote understanding and connection.
Through successful couples counselling, you not only strengthen your relationship with your partner but also deepen your relationship with yourself. You’ll learn to become more aware of your own needs and take greater responsibility for how you express and meet them.
Often, we can become more attuned to our partner’s perceived needs than our own — asking, “You should…” or “Why are you doing…?” instead of expressing, “It would help me if…” or “I don’t like it when…” Counselling helps you shift this focus, enabling you to communicate from a place of self-awareness and authenticity rather than blame or expectation.
Entering couples counselling is an act of love and commitment and sometimes it’s not easy to sit openly and honestly with your partner, sit with uncomfortable emotions, and allow yourself to be vulnerable — but it’s through vulnerability that true connection is built
Our need to connect with others lies at the heart of what it means to be human. Feeling truly connected to your partner brings powerful benefits — from improved mental and physical well-being to better stress management and a stronger, more resilient relationship. This sense of connection nurtures emotional intimacy, deepens trust, and enhances communication, helping you to navigate challenges together and support one another through life’s difficulties. Couples counselling offers more than just what happens in the room — its benefits multiply as you take what you’ve learned and use it to support one another.
My approach is rooted in the person-centred approach, but over the 15 years that I have been practicing I incorporate other ways of working. I am informed by Emotionally Focused (EFT).
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) focuses on emotions behind behaviour. I support couples by listening very carefully and helping them to recognise and express their deeper emotions.
